1. The #Finalsite U Twitter List explained

I just got back from Finalsite University, an annual software conference put on by Finalsite, the company that provides the CMS for my school’s website. Twitter played a big part at the conferece and, on the last day, I created a Twitter List comprising the tweeple who joined the fun at FSU.

In case you are unfamiliar with Twitter Lists, here’s a description from Twitter’s support page:

Twitter users can organize others into groups, or “lists”. When you click to view a list, you’ll see a stream of Tweets from all the users included in that group […] If you want to read a user’s Tweets but not see their messages in your main timeline every day, lists allow you to do that. Similarly, following someone else’s list does not mean you follow all users in that list. Rather, you follow the list itself.

The Finalsite U Twitter list can be found here: https://twitter.com/#!/MisterD/finalsite-u/ and, once you follow it, you will be able to see tweets from everyone on the list whether you follow them in your timeline or not. This is different from creating a saved search for the #finalsite hashtag because every tweet that I post, for example, whether it includes the #finalsite hashtag or not, will show up on the list.

(Bonus tip: you can follow twitter lists (or saved searches for hashtags) in your RSS reader!)

If you want to be added to the list, just send a tweet @MisterD… let’s keep the great conversations going! :)
